Auctions of guarantees of origin for electricity in 2026
OKTE, a.s. as the organizer of the short-term electricity market organizes auctions of guarantees of origin for electricity from renewable energy sources and guarantees of origin for electricity produced by highly efficient combined generation, which are issued for production facilities supported by FIP, FIT or investment support pursuant to Act No. 309/2009 Coll.
Opening the sales side to the market in accordance with the amendment to the Operating Rules of OKTE, a.s. effective from 1.5.2026 required a change to the auction algorithm. It will now evaluate the marginal price based on successfully matched orders in individual product categories. These will be divided by the type of source and the remaining lifetime of the guarantees of origin at the time of the auction.
The new auction format also includes a change to the financial side. Those interested in purchasing guarantees of origin will have a deposit for the given auction in advance to a specific account and the system will allow them to place orders for the purchase of guarantees of origin only up to its amount (after adding VAT for the Slovakian account holders). Acceptance of deposits will end 2 working days before the day of the auction itself.
All auction participants must have an Agreement concluded with OKTE, a.s. on activities related to the issuance and use of guarantees of origin.

For these categories, producers or suppliers can offer guarantees of origin of electricity to the auction by creating a simple order for sale - more information here. In categories containing national guarantees of origin, a set minimum starting price applies to all orders for the sale of guarantees. Within the scope of the offer for sale, this starting price may also be higher than the minimum price of OKTE.
